If all music originated from people, from a people, from a culture, from a place, there is one whose history is quite peculiar : the African-American music. This music takes its roots in Africa, in the kingdom of syncopated rhythms.

From its historical background with its birth in the United-States-to-Be, there is no doubt of the heavy load of history in the process of creation of the musics born out of the African-American People. It is vital to understand that this music is the result of a heritage, of lives, fed by Africa, by the influence of european and African-American religious songs. This music was built out of the day to day lives of African-American people, just being Black in America, from their daily living and surviving, starting with slavery all the way through Jim Crow laws (1876), Civil Rights times, as a way of expression.

African-American music is deeply linked with the history of African-American people who created it. It is the creation of these people that triggered the creation of all these different styles of music.
